About Our Nurse-Led Allergy Clinic in London

AllergyClinic.co.uk is a CQC-registered, nurse-led private allergy blood testing service in South Kensington, London. Our Mission

We started AllergyClinic.co.uk because allergy testing in the UK is often slower, more fragmented and harder to access than it needs to be. Patients wait months to be told what their IgE blood tests show — or pay for tests at clinics that have an incentive to keep them in the building for unnecessary follow-up appointments.

Our service is deliberately narrow. We don’t sell consultations, we don’t prescribe, we don’t supply medication, and we don’t draft allergy action plans. What we do is provide nurse-led venous blood sampling and route your sample to UKAS-accredited laboratories running established platforms such as ImmunoCAP and the ALEX² multiplex array. The written report goes to you. You take it to your GP, allergist or paediatrician.

This split keeps the model honest. Because we never recommend a treatment, we have no commercial reason to recommend a test you don’t need. The same logic underpins every page on this site — transparent pricing, allergen lists for every panel, and the same CQC / GMC / ASA-compliant boundaries on what a blood test can and cannot tell you.

Why Nurse-Led?

01

Trained venepuncture, every appointment

Our nurses take venous blood samples every day. That matters for difficult veins and for needle-anxious adults where a calm, experienced approach is the difference between a 5-minute visit and a distressing one.

02

Correct tubes, volumes and handling

Different IgE platforms (ImmunoCAP, ALEX², component arrays) need specific tube types, minimum volumes and temperature- controlled transport. Getting this right at the chair-side prevents the most common cause of a re-bleed: a rejected sample.

03

No upsell at the chair

Because we don’t prescribe or run follow-up consultations, the nurse who takes your blood has no commercial reason to add tests or recommend a return visit. You leave with the test you booked and a clear timeline for your result.

Why Choose a Diagnostic-Only Clinic?

Unlike clinics that provide both testing and treatment, our nurse-led service focuses solely on accurate diagnostic testing. Because we don't offer treatments or prescriptions, there is no commercial incentive to recommend unnecessary tests — just honest, impartial results you can trust.

Nurse-Led & Impartial

Our qualified nurses collect your sample — we don't prescribe, treat, or have any reason to upsell.

Hours & contact

In a medical emergency, including suspected anaphylaxis, call 999 (or 112) — do not wait for an appointment.

Laboratory Partners & Platforms

We do not run a laboratory ourselves. Samples are couriered to UKAS-accredited UK pathology partners that operate to ISO 15189 standards. The platform used for each test is shown transparently on the relevant test page; the main ones are:

PlatformWhat it isWhere we use it
ImmunoCAP™Fluoro-enzyme immunoassay for specific IgE to single allergens and allergen components. Most single-allergen tests and our component panels (e.g. peanut, birch, dust mite, tropomyosins, parvalbumins).
ALEX² / ALEX³Multiplex allergen extract & molecular array measuring IgE to hundreds of allergens from one sample. Our broad-screen tests when the trigger is unclear, or for polysensitised patients where component data adds value.
Coeliac & gluten serologyEstablished immunoassays for tTG-IgA, deamidated gliadin IgG, total IgA and gluten-specific IgE.Our Gluten Sensitivity Evaluation and Gluten Sensitivity Profile panels.
HLA-DQ2 / DQ8 genotypingPCR-based genotyping for the HLA alleles that are necessary (but not sufficient) for coeliac disease.Included in the Gluten Sensitivity Profile; useful when coeliac has already been excluded biochemically.
LCT / MCM6 genotypingPCR-based test for the C/T-13910 variant that predicts adult lactase persistence. Our Lactose Intolerance Gene Test — a once-in-a-lifetime result.

ImmunoCAP™ is a trademark of Thermo Fisher Scientific. ALEX² / ALEX³ is a trademark of MacroArray Diagnostics. We are not affiliated with either manufacturer; we use their platforms because they are the established UK reference standards for specific-IgE and multiplex allergy testing.

What This Service Is — and Is Not

AllergyClinic.co.uk is a CQC-registered, nurse-led diagnostic service. We take venous blood samples and route them to accredited UK laboratories. Results are released to you in a written report.

We do not diagnose allergic disease from a blood test alone, we do not prescribe medication (including antihistamines, steroids or adrenaline auto-injectors), and we do not draft individual allergy action plans or dietary restrictions. The UK care pathway for allergy is GP → specific IgE / component testing → allergy specialist → dietitian or immunologist where indicated; the test we run is one input into that pathway, not a substitute for it.

In an emergency, including suspected anaphylaxis, call 999 (or 112) and use any prescribed adrenaline auto-injector immediately.

Information on this website is general and educational. It is not personal medical advice and is not a substitute for assessment by a qualified clinician.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "nurse-led" mean at AllergyClinic.co.uk?+

Every blood sample at our South Kensington clinic is taken by an NMC-registered nurse with venepuncture experience. Our Lead Nurse is Luciana F. F. Cirillo (NMC: 25C1591E). A nurse-led model means a calm, unhurried appointment, careful technique on tricky veins (including needle-anxious adults) and proper sample handling for laboratories that require specific tubes, volumes and transport conditions.

What does "diagnostic-only" mean — why do you not prescribe or treat?+

We are an IgE blood-testing service. We take the sample, the laboratory runs the assay, and your written report is released to you. We do not diagnose allergic disease from a blood test alone, we do not prescribe medication (including antihistamines, steroids or adrenaline auto-injectors), we do not write allergy management plans, and we do not give dietary advice. A blood test result is one piece of information that needs to be combined with your history, examination and sometimes other tests by a GP, allergist or paediatrician.

Are you CQC-registered?+

Yes. The clinic is CQC-registered under provider Medical and Dental Limited (provider ID 1-20629579981). CQC registration means our diagnostic services are subject to the Care Quality Commission's fundamental standards on safety, governance and patient rights. Our medical oversight is provided by Dr Mehdi Fard (GMC: 6070368).

Where is the clinic and how do I get there?+

We are at 20 Old Brampton Road, South Kensington, London SW7 3DL — about a 3-minute walk from South Kensington underground station (Piccadilly, District and Circle lines). The clinic shares the building with South Kensington Medical and Dental Clinic. See our Contact page for a map, directions and opening hours.

Do I need a GP referral?+

No. You can book any of our allergy blood tests directly. We do recommend taking your written report to your GP or specialist afterwards so they can interpret it alongside your full clinical picture and discuss any management.

Which laboratory platforms do you use?+

For specific-IgE testing we use UKAS-accredited laboratory partners running established immunoassay platforms (such as ImmunoCAP for single allergens and component panels, and the ALEX² / ALEX³ multiplex array for our broadest screens). Lab method, allergen panel and turnaround time are listed transparently on each individual test page.

Why is the service paid privately and not on the NHS?+

AllergyClinic.co.uk is a private, fee-paying service. We publish all test prices on our tests pages and do not charge for interpretation (because interpretation is your clinician's role, not ours). Many patients use us because waiting times for NHS allergy clinics can be long, but we strongly encourage you to share your written report with your NHS GP afterwards.

Is my appointment confidential?+

Yes. We comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, the Caldicott principles and the Confidentiality NHS Code of Practice as applied to private healthcare. Your written report is released only to you (or, with your written consent, to a named clinician you nominate). See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we store and process your data.
